On October 10, 2018, the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation welcomed dozens of women from across Minnesota to North Garden Theater in Saint Paul for a whirlwind day of thought-provoking sessions and networking.
The inaugural Empowering Women event kicked off with some great stories and insights from Archelle Georgiou about taking risks in your career and pivoting to find passion for your role.
The morning also featured speakers Kris Taylor and Krystle Igbo-Ogbonna. Kris powered up the audience by sharing some life lessons from her extensive career with Ecolab and corporations throughout the Twin Cities, and Krystle, 2015 Queen of the Snows, addressed the importance of following a career that aligns with your values.
The afternoon kicked off with 2018 Prime Minister Christine Quandt sharing how being a part of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival Royal Family has helped her grow as an individual and shaped her positive outlook.
Shannan Paul captivated the audience with her humorous approach to diversity and highlighted the value of looking past stereotypes to find connections.
To close the day’s program, Dr. Solveig Brown shared some valuable techniques to truly create a work-life balance and to navigate the stresses of life.
Throughout the day, networking was the number one theme and attendees left feeling encouraged and empowered after making new connections and hearing powerful stories from speakers and each other.
Thank you to all of our attendees for joining us, and to our sponsors for making this event possible!
