Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation at the 2020 Saint Paul Winter Carnival! We have a big year ahead of us and, with your help, we are looking forward to making this winter magical.

Leading up to and throughout Carnival we will have numerous operational areas that need YOUR help. Please select the areas you would like to support, as well as the shift(s) you are able to attend, in order to be added to the schedule.

All Volunteers will receive:

  • Saint Paul Winter Carnival Neck Buff 
  • Hand warmers
  • Complimentary beverages and food
  • Chances to win fabulous prizes

Volunteer Positions and Descriptions: 

  • Bonfire Watchers: Help watch the fire and make sure all patrons are safe, this will also include tending the fire, adding wood and helping with s’mores. This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Family Day: Help vendors set up booths, assist with crowd control, help with kids’ crafts, and other duties. This is an indoor position.
  • Grand Day Parade Banner Carrier: Help to carry the main banner in the parade. This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Grand Day Parade Marshal: You may be “manning” a corner, helping units find their location or communicating with participants. This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Grand Day Snowflake Carrier: Walk in the parade carrying a snowflake. Snowflakes weigh about 10 pounds each so children must be accompanied by an adult. This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Hot Beverage Makers: Help make and manage the hot beverages. This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress in layers. 
  • Kellogg Park Set-Up: Help set Ice Bar, Beverage Stations, tables, and more in the park the day before the event.
  • Kids’ Day Helper: Help vendors set up booths, assist with crowd control, help with kids’ crafts, and other duties. This is an indoor position.
  • Merch Tent Set-Up: Help set up the merchandise tent, while tracking inventory, adding signage, etc.
  • Office Help: Get a behind the scenes look at Saint Paul Winter Carnival. Volunteers answer phones, take messages, answer questions in the Winter Carnival office (Landmark Center 429). Other duties may be assigned. This is an indoor position.
  • Puzzle Contest Monitor: Assist with participant registration, greet guests, monitor the competition and help setup and tear down the event area. This is an indoor position.
  • Royal Coronation Coat Check: Take and retrieve coats and help as needed. 
  • Royal Coronation Door Monitor: Ensure people have tickets to enter the event, take cash, and stamp hands for guests viewing the coronation.
  • Securian Race: Help along the race route for the hundreds of runners participating in the annual Securian Financial Winter Run. Volunteers will assist with monitoring intersections and other areas as needed. This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Torchlight Parade Banner Carrier: Be near the front of the parade and carry the Saint Paul Winter Carnival banner!  This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Torchlight Parade Marshal: Help organize the parade! Monitor a street corner, help units find their location in lineup or communicate with participants. This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Torchlight Parade Vulcan “V” Carrier: Walk right behind the WC banner carrying a “V” for “Vulcans”. These can be heavy so children must be accompanied by an adult. This is an outdoor position so be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Volunteer Central: Assist volunteers as they check-in for their shifts, help them find their locations, keep volunteer room tidy and stocked with refreshments, and answer questions. This is an indoor position. Feel free to bring along a book or other items for the quiet times.
  • Winter Carnival Ambassador Information: Assist with crowd control, customer service, answer questions about the Winter Carnival, the legend, ice carvings, etc. Information will be provided. This is an outdoors position so please dress accordingly.
