Q: How much does it cost to attend Saint Paul Winter Carnival?

A: Many of the activities throughout Winter Carnival are free or low-cost.  If a specific cost is associated with an event it will be clearly marked.  Some of our free events include Rice Park activities (ice carving, outdoor entertainment, ice bar, ice throne); Kids’ Day, Family Day, Snowpark at the Fair (minimal cost on the snow slide!) and many events inside the Landmark Center including the memorabilia display.

Q: Where and when are the activities?

A: This year, we have three main event areas: Rice Park (109 W 4th St, St Paul, MN 55102) and the Landmark Center in downtown Saint Paul (75 W 5th St, St Paul, MN 55102) and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds (1265 Snelling Ave N, St Paul, MN 55108).  Other events happen throughout the 10 days too.  Please see specific events for more information.

Q: How should I dress for this event?

A: We recommend warm boots, coat, gloves and a hat when you’re outside taking advantage of the many fun, winter activities we’ve planned.  Dress in layers so when you come inside you’ll be able to be comfortable!  Also, it never hurts to have a cup of hot chocolate handy too!

Q: Where do I find information about family-friendly events?

A: Visit our event calendar and select family-friendly events as a category.  This will then provide a list of activities.  Other categories include What’s New, Parades, Rice Park and more.

Q: Can I bring my pet to an outdoor event?

A: No, except for Hops & Hounds on February 2nd, 2020.  For the safety of all concerned, we prefer you leave your pets at home.  If you choose to bring your pet, you are responsible to maintain safety for your pet and other guests.  All local ordinances must be followed.

Q: Can I be a vendor at this event?

A: Yes!  We have space outside in Rice Park and at our Family and Kids’ Day.  Please visit the Forms page for more information.

Q: Can I volunteer at this event?

A: Yes.  We use over 400 volunteers throughout the course of the 10 days and we would love your help!  Please visit our volunteer page to learn more about the opportunities available.

Q: Can I provide entertainment at this event?

A: Yes.  We have live entertainment in Rice Park on both weekends and we are always looking for bands/acts to play.  We do also have stages at our Family and Kids.  Fair warning…we have a very small budget for entertainment but we would love to hear from you if you’re interested.  Contact us for more information about these opportunities..

Q:  Why should I buy a button?

A:  Oh…lots of reasons!  Button sales, one of the year’s largest fundraisers, help keep the Saint Paul Winter Carnival free to the public. Buttons can be purchased online, through one of many retailers OR through many individuals and organizations selling them.  Register your button to win great prizes!  Also, having a button gains you discounted admission into many Saint Paul Winter Carnival events and local businesses.  Also, these are a collector’s items that can be kept for many years!

Q: What are Rice Park’s Hours?

A: Rice Park is open daily.
