It’s the most wonderful time of the year: the 134th Saint Paul Winter Carnival, the “Coolest Celebration on Earth” since 1886. The Winter Carnival continues to bring family-friendly events and community pride to Saint Paul and the Twin Cities metro area.
- Most events are FREE and open to the public.
- Events primarily take place in downtown Saint Paul, in and around the Landmark Center, as well as at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
- Enjoy live entertainment, walk through the ice sculpture garden, watch the ice carvers create frozen masterpieces, visit vendor booths, and more!
- Enjoy hot mulled wine, beer, and other beverages at the Ice Bars.
Please join us at the Ambassadors’ Spring Fundraiser, the Red vs. Blue Bartender Challenge. Come support your favorite Winter Carnival characters as they battle for the title of Greatest Bartender in the Realm! Watch the competitors go head-to-head in five grueling rounds that will put their talents and their charm to the test.
Show your allegiance to Red or Blue by tipping your favorite bartender(s). The tips will be totaled at the end of each round. The bartenders with the most tips on either side will compete in the Championship Round to determine the winner of the challenge.
Only one side can win! Who will you choose?

You are invited to attend the 2019 West Wind Organization Shindig!! This event is the wildest gun-toting, boot-knocking, and 10-gallon-hat-wearing hoedown during Winter Carnival.
During our Shindig we will say Farewell to our beloved 2018 West Wind Prince Daryl Wahl, his West Wind Princess Dani Ross, and Guard Brenda Hocum. Our Honored Guest for this “BIG SOIREE” event will be the new 2019 West Wind Prince, Randy Graff, and Lady of the West, Shelley Duran. Horses, whiskey, and tall-tales are all welcome!!

The King Boreas Grand Day Parade presented by Arctic® Apples is our daytime procession down West 7th Street featuring dozens of bands, floats and, of course, the newly crowned King Boreas and his Royal Family.
Lori Koutsky, longtime coordinator of the Securian Winter Run, will serve as Community Grand Marshal for the King Boreas Grand Day Parade. Since 1994, Lori has led Securian’s community involvement and philanthropic programs. Community is a core value at Securian, which is why they were recently honored with the National Jefferson Award for exemplary corporate giving and community involvement. Lori is a true Minnesotan and enjoys all things outdoors, such as hiking and kayaking. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, Dennis, and son, Dan. We are honored to have Lori Koutsky as our Community Grand Marshal.
Our Media Grand Marshals are KSTP’s Dave Dahl and Lindsey Brown. St. Paul’s own and Twins great, Joe Mauer, will serve as Celebrity Grand Marshal.

The magical journey of King Boreas LXXXIII along with Aurora, Queen of the Snows; the four Winds and Wind Princesses; as well as the Royal Guard begins with the Royal Coronation. A 130+ year old Winter Carnival tradition.

Public Viewing of the Royal Coronation:
Admission is $15 with a 2019 Saint Paul Winter Carnival Button; admission and buttons can be purchased at the Saint Paul RiverCentre from 6:30pm to 8pm January 26th only.
The public is welcome to attend the Royal Coronation portion of the evening. Doors open for general seating at approximately 7:30pm. Public seating is first come first served- seating is limited. To guarantee entrance, it is recommended to purchase a dinner ticket. See above for schedule of evening.
250 General Admission tickets for the Coronation only – will be available at the door, day of only. Tickets will go on sale at 7 pm and will be first come first serve.
Operation Glass Slipper Donations:
At the 2019 Royal Coronation, we will be collecting donations for Operation Glass Slipper. Operation Glass Slipper is a Minnesota 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing prom gowns and accessories at no charge to high school girls and boys throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin who would otherwise be unable to attend prom due to difficult financial or family circumstances.

It’s the most wonderful time of the Carnival year! Join the Ambassadors at the Hotel 340 to warm up after the 2019 Moon Glow Pedestrian Parade! Greet the Visiting Festival Guests and stroll through the Winter Carnival memorabilia Exhibit and Ice Castle models. Have a hot chocolate, some refreshments, or perhaps an adult beverage to toast to the beginning of the Coolest Celebration on Earth.
Light hot and cold appetizers will be served. Cash bar is available.

We’ve been challenged by the Minneapolis Aquatennial to a tug-of-war across the Mississippi for WCCO’s Pulling Together and are more than up to the challenge! Join us at this great event and cheer on Team St. Paul as we compete to determine which of the Twin Cities is truly the ruler of the land.
